Zionism is racism?

46 Green councillors put their names to it. Do they still stand by it?

On 4 October 2026 the Green Party of England and Wales passed a motion declaring that Zionism is racism. The party printed the names of the members who supported it. These are the Green councillors among them, from those printed lists, each with a page on zionismisnotracism.co.uk where you can ask them, in two minutes, whether they still stand by it.

Is Zionism racism? No.

Zionism is the belief that Jewish people, like the French, the Irish or the Palestinians, have the right to a homeland of their own. Around nine in ten British Jews hold it. Calling that belief racism singles out one people, the Jews, for a rule applied to no one else. The full answer, with the law and the sources.

Where the names come from

Every name above is printed in a list of supporters published with the motion: the spring 2026 version (A105), the autumn 2026 version (E02) that passed, or both. Names are matched to sitting Green councillors by name and council. A councillor who has signed the pledge or left the party since is shown as such. Nothing else is claimed about anyone.
